SUMMARY:
Merit Services is seeking a skilled Painting Supervisor to join our client’s team in the dynamic construction industry in Toronto. As a Painting Supervisor, you will play a vital role in overseeing the planning, execution, and quality control of painting activities for new construction, maintenance, and repair projects. You will utilize your exceptional knowledge and experience in interpreting, supervising, and upholding the best practices and methods for painting, ensuring a seamless and high-quality finished product. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse set of skills, including strong leadership, project management, and excellent communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overseeing daily job assignments for a paint crew, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Creating formal and informal job projections for ongoing and upcoming painting projects, keeping track of materials and time used.
- Ordering necessary materials and supplies for projects to ensure that projects are completed on schedule.
- Enforcing current construction, maintenance, and repair practices, methods, and procedures to maintain high-quality standards.
- Examining the work of painters in the field or in the studio, providing feedback and guidance to ensure the highest level of quality is achieved.
- Providing training and guidance to staff members to foster growth and development.
- Overseeing and training personnel in safety procedures and standards to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Attending meetings with representatives of other City agencies, outside groups, and the public related to maintenance tasks.
- Utilizing a personal computer to create letters and maintain records.
- Driving a vehicle to various job sites, paint stores, and meetings as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong understanding of the rules, procedures, and methods of supervision to effectively manage a team of painters and oversee various painting projects.
- In-depth knowledge of typical painting tools, supplies, and equipment to ensure the necessary materials are available for each project.
- Proficiency in surface preparation and paint application on various surfaces to ensure high-quality results.
