SUMMARY:

Merit Services is seeking a reliable and experienced Medical Assistant for our client. The incumbent will work closely with healthcare experts and patients to provide administrative and clinical support. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational and communication abilities, with a passion for providing compassionate patient care.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet patients, schedule appointments, and manage patient records.
  • Perform basic medical procedures, such as taking vitals, collecting specimens, and regulating medication as coordinated by healthcare professionals.
  • Assist healthcare professionals with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Communicate with patients and their families to educate them on healthcare information and treatment plans.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring that everything is well-stocked and in great condition.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to infection control protocols. Perform basic administrative tasks, such as answering phones, faxing, and filing patient records.
  • Files/scans all faxes and paper copies of lab reports and clinical data such as referral letters and other correspondence within the charts.
  • Performs clerical duties (e.g. photocopies, faxes, messages, emails, picks up/delivers mail).
  • Performs general opening and closing procedures of the Clinic.
  • Keeps up records, petty cash, inventory, and ordering of office supplies.
  • Helps with the care and maintenance of office equipment.
  • Collects expenses for items/uninsured administrations provided by the clinic to clients as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • Medical Assistant certification.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical procedures.
  • Basic computer skills and experience using electronic medical records systems.
