SUMMARY:
Merit Services is currently seeking a highly skilled Executive Chef to join our prestigious client in Toronto. As an Executive Chef, you will assume a leadership role, overseeing the entire kitchen operation and ensuring the delivery of exceptional, high-quality dishes to our valued clients. Your responsibilities will encompass menu creation, inventory management, hiring and training of kitchen staff, as well as maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop innovative and enticing menus that cater to our customers’ preferences and accommodate dietary restrictions.
  • Effectively manage all aspects of kitchen operations, including inventory control, food ordering, and supervision of kitchen staff.
  • Maintain the highest standards of quality and presentation for all food prepared.
  • Monitor food costs and implement strategies to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and well-organized kitchen environment at all times.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and integrate new techniques and ingredients into menu offerings.
  • Foster a culture of creativity and continuous improvement within the kitchen team.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source the freshest and highest quality ingredients.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff to uphold exceptional culinary standards.
  • Regularly solicit and respond to customer feedback to enhance menu offerings and dining experience.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations, prioritizing the health and well-being of our customers.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to elevate the dining experience through culinary innovation and excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of culinary experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Hold a degree or certification in culinary arts or a related field, showcasing a solid educational foundation.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and train staff effectively.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and organizational abilities, ensuring seamless coordination and teamwork.
  • Thrive in high-pressure and fast-paced environments, displaying resilience and adaptability.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, ensuring compliance and the highest standards of hygiene.
