Merit Services is seeking a Database Administrator to join our client’s dynamic team in Peterborough. As a Database Administrator, your main tasks will involve maintaining the accuracy and reliability of data, implementing effective database solutions, and offering technical assistance to end users. RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Smartly design, execute and uphold our organization’s databases to secure data integrity, accessibility, and efficiency.
- Monitor the performance of the database, identifying and solving any problems to improve the execution of queries and enhance the overall efficiency of the system.
- Design and implement strategies for backing up databases, carrying out disaster recovery processes, and archiving data to guarantee the safety of information and uninterrupted business operations.
- Intelligently implement and uphold measures to ensure database security, such as managing user access, implementing encryption techniques, and maintaining data privacy policies.
- Work alongside developers and IT teams to enhance database design and streamline data processes and workflows.
- Efficiently address and resolve database problems, promptly investigating and fixing them to reduce downtime and prevent data loss.
- Create and uphold thorough documentation for databases, which includes data models, schemas, and technical specifications.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in the industry and new technologies, suggesting creative database solutions to improve performance and scalability.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar discipline is required.
- Demonstrable expertise in the field of Database Administration or a related position, involved in the efficient management and enhancement of databases.
- An advanced level of proficiency in database administration is required, encompassing expertise in SQL, data modeling, performance optimization, and backup/restoration approaches.
- A high level of skill in utilizing database management systems such as Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server, as well as proficiency in their accompanying tools.
- Experience in following database security protocols and adhering to compliance regulations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of analyzing intricate database-related problems and delivering successful resolutions.
- The person possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling successful collaboration with a wide range of individuals.
