SUMMARY:
Merit Services is actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cybersecurity Analyst to become an invaluable member of our client’s dynamic team based in the vibrant city of Vancouver. As a Cybersecurity Analyst, you will play a vital role in safeguarding our organization’s critical data and resources, driven by a passionate interest in cybersecurity and an unwavering commitment to counter imminent threats.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of our organization’s cybersecurity posture, identifying vulnerabilities, potential risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Monitor and analyze security events, alerts, and logs to detect and respond to potential security incidents promptly.
  • Utilize cutting-edge security tools and technologies to perform security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning to fortify our systems and networks.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to establish and enforce robust security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity threats, emerging trends, and mitigation strategies.
  • Investigate security incidents, performing root cause analysis, and developing remediation plans to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
  • Design and implement effective security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, endpoint protection.
  • Provide guidance and support to end-users and internal stakeholders regarding security best practices, awareness, and incident response protocols.
  • Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and cybersecurity communities to stay updated on emerging threats and share knowledge and expertise.
  • Participate in the development and execution of security awareness and training programs to cultivate a security-conscious culture throughout the organization.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and recommendations for management, outlining security vulnerabilities, risks, and proposed mitigation strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in security tools and technologies, such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, penetration testing tools, and antivirus software.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems, and web applications, with the ability to identify and address security vulnerabilities.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001) and experience in implementing security controls to achieve compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and assess complex security issues.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a meticulous approach to security assessments and incident response.
