SUMMARY:
Merit Services is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Administrator to join our client’s dynamic team in Oshawa. As a Network Administrator, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our client’s network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success of a growing organization while utilizing your technical expertise in networking.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement, and manage the overall network architecture, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), internet connectivity, and wireless networks.
  • Configure and maintain network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers, to ensure seamless connectivity and efficient network operation.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary solutions to maximize network uptime and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, and migrations.
  • Ensure network security by implementing and enforcing appropriate access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Perform regular network maintenance activities, including software upgrades, patch management, and backup and recovery procedures.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network administration, and recommend improvements to enhance the network infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users regarding network-related issues and assist in resolving their concerns.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to network emergencies or critical incidents outside of regular working hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field. 
  • At least 3 years of experience in network administration. 
  • Proficiency in network management and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG. 
  • Experience with network security protocols and best practices. 
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, and VPN technologies.
