SUMMARY:
Merit Services is seeking a skilled Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) Operator to join our client’s dynamic team in Vancouver. Your role as an MRF Operator is highly significant in ensuring the smooth functioning of our materials recovery facility. Your responsibilities will include proficiently sorting, processing, and recycling incoming materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Efficiently manage and uphold upkeep of the apparatus and hardware situated in the materials retrieval establishment, encompassing transport systems, assorting contraptions, compressors, and compactors.
- Keenly observe the movement of resources, ensuring that they are appropriately categorized, segregated, and disposed of in compliance with established standards and safety measures.
- Regularly check equipment and carry out essential maintenance to maximize efficiency and reduce periods of inactivity.
- Recognize and swiftly resolve any defects or operational difficulties of the machinery, collaborating with maintenance staff when necessary.
- Work together with the recycling team to manage the handling and processing of materials, streamlining the workflow and optimizing the rate of recycling.
- Provide support in instructing and overseeing the MRF personnel, guaranteeing compliance with safety protocols and excellence criteria.
- It is important to keep precise records and documentation regarding production, material quantities, and upkeep of equipment.
- Engage in ongoing efforts to improve processes by recognizing chances for boosting operational efficacy and minimizing wastage.
- Comply with all guidelines and policies on environmental protection, health and safety, as well as the rules set forth by the company while working at the MRF.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of high school or equivalent level of education. Having technical certifications or undergoing training related to waste management can be considered an added advantage.
- Demonstrated proficiency as an MRF Operator or in a comparable position at a recycling plant.
- An extensive understanding of procedures for recovering materials, operating equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.
- Proficiency in the operation and rectification of equipment like sorting machines, conveyors, and associated machinery.
- Being in good physical shape and having the capacity to carry out laborious tasks in a fast and demanding setting.
- Having a keen eye for details and being capable of quickly recognizing and resolving operational concerns.
- Having effective communication abilities is essential to team up with colleagues and adhere to directives.
- Capability to function autonomously or collaboratively within a group.
- A readiness to accommodate flexible schedules, which may include working on weekends and holidays as required.
