Are you a skilled Construction Crew Lead looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity in the dynamic construction industry? Merit Services is currently seeking a talented individual to join our client’s team in Toronto. As a Construction Crew Lead, you will play a vital role in overseeing the planning, execution, and quality control of construction projects, utilizing your expertise to transform the designs of engineers and architects into complete and sturdy constructions. With Merit Services, you will work on a variety of exciting projects, including buildings, roads, and other infrastructure, while collaborating with a talented and supportive team

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support to craftspeople and machine operators, assisting them in their tasks to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Set up and take down scaffolding, ramps, and other equipment with a strong emphasis on safety to maintain a safe and secure work environment.
  • Transport and unload supplies at building sites to ensure they are available when needed.
  • Utilize equipment to break down outdated structures and forms safely and efficiently.
  • Follow directions carefully when using explosives to destroy structures, adhering to strict safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assemble and utilize building supplies, such as cement, to create structures or fill gaps in existing constructions.
  • Ensure fresh concrete is level and smooth to maintain quality standards.
  • Remove trash and waste from the area and install traffic signals where necessary to ensure a clean and organized construction site.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive experience in construction, with a deep understanding of the industry and the tools used, including pneumatic hammers, drills, and trench rammers.
  • Knowledge of how to mix and pour construction materials such as concrete, sand, and grout, to ensure that projects are completed to a high standard.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental engineering and construction techniques to read and interpret instructions and blueprints accurately.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent eye-hand coordination and balance to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent certification to demonstrate a solid foundation in education and relevant coursework.
